March 2016 marked a noteworthy achievement for Fe-Male, where Fe-Male member, Nour Wahid, participated in the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women in the event entitled “Supporting Feminist Movement Building for Planet 50 – 50 by 2030”, during which she screened an outstanding video she produced.
Organized by UN Women, OHCHR, the City of New York’s Commission on Gender Equity, ICRW, CIVICUS and Cooper Union; in partnership with Made in NY Media Center by IFP, Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) and 30under30 Film Festival, Nour was selected among hundreds of applications from all over the world. Along with 12 other young filmmakers and photographers from eleven countries, she was chosen to be part of this feminist film and arts festival and had the opportunity to showcase the contribution of feminist activists to gender equality in her country. Nour’s video focused on the theme “The Personal is the Political”, and highlighted the experience of refugee women.
